Pre-School Excursions

School Excursion at Tiny Mill

A hands-on sensory learning journey

Tiny Mill offers a calm, immersive school excursion designed for young children to explore materials, process, and movement through meaningful hands-on experiences. Rooted in sensory play and guided exploration, our programme supports curiosity, independence, and joyful learning beyond the classroom.

What children will experience

🌾 From grain to flour

Children are introduced to whole wheat and observe how grains are transformed into flour using a traditional stone mill. They take turns grinding, feeling the texture change, and understanding process through their bodies.

🍜 Dough & noodle making

With guidance from our instructors, children mix, knead, roll, and cut dough into noodles. The focus is on exploration and participation rather than outcome, allowing every child to engage at their own pace.

🤍 Sensory free play

Children explore flour through touch, movement, and imaginative play in our sensory play area. This free-play segment encourages self-directed learning, cooperation, and confidence.

Learning outcomes

  • Sensory integration through touch, movement, and resistance
  • Understanding of simple processes (cause & effect)
  • Fine and gross motor development
  • Confidence in independent exploration
  • Social interaction in a small-group setting

Our programme aligns well with early childhood learning frameworks and complements classroom themes such as food, community, and everyday processes.
